Netflix stopped supporting Apple’s third-generation Apple TV; it was recently confirmed that its app no longer provides compatible updates for iPhones and iPads running iOS 16 and previous versions.
The new Netflix app for iOS has stopped supporting iOS / iPadOS 16, and iPhone X and the original iPad Pro can’t upgrade to iOS / iPadOS 17, so you won’t be able to run the latest version of Netflix.
When you open the Netflix app on a device running iOS 16, you’ll be prompted: “We’ve updated the Netflix app!” To use the latest version, users must install iOS 17 or later.”
iOS 16 users can still ignore the prompt and continue using the Netflix app for now, but the app may stop working in the future. App updates bring new features, bug fixes, and security patches.
Devices that cannot be upgraded to iOS / iPadOS 17 and later are as follows:
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad 5 (2017)
- First-generation iPad Pro
