This update offers iOS users new home screen customizations, dark mode improvements, and many other new features.

Apple home screen customization

The first is the much-anticipated home screen customization feature. iOS 18 allows users to set app icon themes, freely place app icons, and add the option to fill app icons with dark colors in dark mode automatically.

The Control Center has also received a major revamp, with a new multi-page layout and a new “Control Center Component Library” that allows third-party developers to provide components to the Control Center. In addition, users can add these new controls to the lock screen, replacing the original flashlight and camera icons.

Apple says the Photos app has received its significant facelift, designed to help users better manage their vast photo library. The app’s interface is consolidated into a single view, with a grid of photos at the top and a gallery organized by theme below. Users can also browse the “Month” and “Year” views at the bottom—new features to easily hide screenshots and a Collection feature to help users organize recent photos and suggestions. The Photos app can now automatically group people and offer a new “carousel” interface to browse pictures.

In addition, iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI capabilities to go deep into the operating system. However, Apple Intelligence will be available later in the beta testing process. It will include improving and editing writing, generating images and emojis, and more.

Apple Intelligence is confirmed to be available in October in the iOS / iPadOS 18.1 official update, which will be the first available to users in the United States, and IT Home will follow up.

iPad OS 18

iPadOS 18 is the same as iOS 18, but it also brings a lot of new features/features to the big iPad screen.

With iPadOS 18, like iOS 18, users can customize the Home Screen, including placing app icons however they want. Apple has also expanded the Control Center to support the creation of multiple lists and views, resizing and rearranging icons, and more. In addition, a new floating tab bar makes it easy to navigate between apps and can be further adjusted to remember your favorite software.

iPad OS 18 adds a built-in calculator. This means that iPad users will no longer need to download third-party apps for simple math calculations, which are often full of ads and rarely optimized for the iPad’s larger form factor.
